Rick Foster joins 93.7 The Wave
BAR HARBOR: A downeast radio icon is returning to the air.
Starting on Saturday, February 2nd, Rick Foster will return to the radio airwaves of Downeast Maine.
Rick started his radio career back in 1962 on WDEA in Ellsworth. After 4 years there, he went to work in Brunswick at WCME for another 4 years. Later on, he worked in Bangor at WABI-TV as a weekend news anchor.
Rick then came back to radio for almost 25 years, first for over 5 years on WERU in Blue Hill, before returning to WDEA for a 19 years before deciding to retire last year.
While Rick says he really missed radio, he had no intention of coming out of retirement. He said it was ‘permanent’. Then, recently, he got a call from 93-7 The Wave with a unique opportunity .
“It was a good fit,” says Foster. “I didn’t want to work everyday. I also wanted to have the flexibility to do what I had been doing for years, with the music I wanted to play. Everything came together at 93-7 The Wave, and I’m looking forward to getting back together with my radio listeners, as well as getting new ones, too.”
Rick will be back on the air from 8 AM to Noon every Saturday on 93-7 The Wave. His show will also be able to be heard online, giving listeners the ability to listen even if they are away on vacation, or for the winter, at 937TheWave.com.
